Young entrepreneurs are *actually* not a dime a dozen.
I know that Instagram might have you thinking otherwise. It seems as if every other post is about an influencer trying to sell you the next latest and greatest. But as it turns out, entrepreneurs under the age of 30 are a rare find.
At the beginning of the year, we set out to create a program to nurture the creativity and business acumen of the next generation of entrepreneurs. We searched all over the place - friends, social media, business partners - we looked in as many places as we knew. What did we discover? Young entrepreneurs are hard to find.
The research co-signed our experience. In April 2022, only about 7% of all entrepreneurs were 20-30 years old (statista.com). That ain't a lot.
Thanks to the input and participation of a faithful few, we think we stumbled onto a solution and maybe even a new audience - and it all boils down to the way we describe who we're looking for...
There are lots of great young people with creative ideas, and even young people who might have the drive and leadership capabilities to build a business, but many of them don't even know that they can be entrepreneurs.
What you see in this photo is a group of young women who are helping the Zoe Communications Agency form our very own Young Entrepreneurs Society. It's a program that came out of our YES Deep Ellum Summit at the beginning of the year. Thanks to the incredible feedback offered by this vibrant batch of creatives, we believe we are well on our way to creating meaningful impact - impact that we want you to be a part of, too.
Our new goal is to turn *would be* entrepreneurs into *will be* entrepreneurs. And we're going to make that happen through our Young Entrepreneurs Society.
From mentorship to pop up stores to cohort style learning events, our goal is to create an approachable foundation to entrepreneurship that can help ground this group in their passions, their purpose and maybe even their life work. It all begins now.
